Triple Crown Update

Following a meeting of the Triple Crown Presidium, it has been agreed and decided that all Triple Crown events scheduled for 2021 will be cancelled and rescheduled for 2022 with the same host nations. So as previously confirmed the TBAW hosts the Adults in 2022.

ESBC Update

The ESBC in Berlin in June has been cancelled.

As we get more updated information we will of course advise accordingly. Home - ESBC 2021

2020/2021 Update

We trust you are all coping in these tough times, as well as possible.

Following the most challenging year our sport has seen, it has been decided that TBAW membership fees for those that paid in early 2020 will be rolled over to cover 2021 membership fees. New members and members that didn't pay in 2020 will have to pay for the 2021 season should they wish to join.

There will also be a virtual AGM. An announcement about the date, time and platform format for this will be made soon.

Take care.

TBAW Committee

2020 Adult Triple Crown

It is with regret that the TBAW announces that the Adult Triple Crown 2020 which was to be hosted in Bromborough in September, is no longer able to go ahead because of the ongoing uncertainty due to the coronvirus pandemic.

We have been continuously monitoring the advice from the Government and Public Health England and Wales, but given the fact that there is continued uncertainty over when the lockdown will ease, we have decided that it is not possible to organise the event safely and successfully at this time.

The TBAW hopes that all of our bowling friends, both in Wales and beyond, are continuing to keep safe and well.

2020 Rankings News

Following the current status of Covid19, it has been decided that the following changes will be made for the remainder of 2020.

Bromoborough Doubles. June. Cancelled.

Milford AMF. July. Cancelled.

Welsh Open Stroud. August. Cancelled.

IF we are in a position to hold the Stroud doubles and Milford 12 game events in October and November, they will not be used for ranking purposes. That will maintain the status quo for all players who may have been selected for cancelled events, or although unknown to them, were on a list for selection to future national/international events during 2020. So essentially, apart from this years Nationals the remainder of the 2020 ranking programme is held in abeyance to recommence in 2021.

Not easy decisions, but the principal priority is the wellbeing of the membership and the bowling fraternity in general.

Stay safe everyone.

Child protection and equality

The TBAW is pleased to publish today both a revised Child Protection Policy and Equality Statement which sets out the Association's commitments both to Child Safety and Equality in everything we do.

These documents can be found on the about section of the site (under documents) or downloaded here.

Welsh Open 2020

It is with reluctance that we, the TBAW, have to postpone the 2020 Welsh Open.

In line with guidance from the government and other sporting bodies the TBAW has decided that it is not a responsible or viable option to run the event in the current Covid-19 outbreak.

With the help and guidance of Stroud Bowl together we have provisionally scheduled the event to be run the on August Bank Holiday weekend (28th-31st August), based on an improvement of the current situation allowing the event to run.

We will of course be continually assessing the situation between now and then, and should anything change we will advise accordingly.

Typically we wouldn’t look to hold such event in the summer holidays but unfortunately this summer looks like there may well be a lot of bowlers NOT going away so at least we will all have an event to look forward to!

Those that have already entered will automatically have their squads mirrored in the new event, however, should you want alternative squads over the new date, or if you wish to remove you entry then please contact Terry by email (trichards300@sky.com)

Thank you all for your support and understanding in this current climate, the Tenpin Bowling Association of Wales appreciates it and are looking forward to hosting events the very moment we can.

Tournament News

In accordance with the current Government advice on COVID, next weekend’s event in Bromborough will not go ahead.

We know that this is disappointing news. However, we hope you appreciate that your health and wellbeing is our primary concern, and given the ongoing situation and Government guidelines stating that non essential social gatherings and travel should not take place, we feel that there is no option but to postpone the event.

Further details will be made available about whether the event will be rearranged, or whether an alternative event will be scheduled, in due course. If you have any questions, please contact the Secretary, Alison Moore (alitbaw@hotmail.com) or the Chair, Terry Richards (trichards300@sky.com). If you have already paid your entry, this will be automatically refunded or rolled over to a future event.

The TBAW will continue to keep the ongoing situation under constant review, and we will continue to follow the guidance of the Government and Public Health Wales (and Public Health England where events are held outside of Wales) concerning future events, including the Welsh Open.

The TBAW would also advise all league secretaries to speak to your centres about local arrangements remembering that primary concern should be for the health and welfare of bowlers, volunteers, administrators and spectators who may be at the leagues.

Members are also reminded that they are also covered by the Membership Code of Conduct. Any breach of that Code may mean disciplinary action being taken under the TBAW Disciplinary Code.

Rhondda YBC

Great to see some of our young bowlers and families supporting those that have gone before. Rhondda Bowl YBC supporting pervious bowlers of their YBC. The YBC have donated £100 to Chelsea Walters to help fund her trip to Turkey to represent Wales at the 2019 European Champions Cup In Ankara. Good luck to Chelsea Walters and Glenn Robson at the ECC in November.
